The Lucky Strike - Durham

Lucky Strike was born in 1871 and initially produced chewing tobacco. It was not until 1905 that he began to produce cigarettes.


Initially the package was dark green. “Lucky Strike Green Has Gone To War”, the green of the Lucky Strike went to war. In fact, the change in color was caused by the fact that the copper used for the green color was used for World War II.


An urban legend traces the name “lucky strike” (lucky shot).

A fire inside one of the establishments. The flames caused the roasting of the tobacco which was more appreciated than the drying.


Another legend linked to this brand claims that the name derives from the fact that in the past every hundred cigarettes, one contained marijuana (The “LUCKY”).
