The Poison of Wives - Strasbourg

In the Middle Ages, in Strasbourg and in nearby towns, women used to put a non-lethal poison in the breakfast of their husbands, and they were always given the antidote at dinner without their knowledge.

This poison caused only ill-advised, nausea and vomiting in case the antidote was not given in time. The purpose was to get the husbands home immediately after work. In fact, the later the return home and the more the discomfort is intensified, instead returning to their home and taking the antidote did not suffer the effects of poison.

With this horrible trick, men were convinced that being away from home caused them pain and discomfort.

Then they became attached to their homes and their wives.
