San Patrick's Day - Dublin

Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and is celebrated on March 17 throughout Ireland and wherever there is an Irish community.

For this anniversary Ireland is dressed in green and above all Dublin turns into a mega party with many musical and cultural events, the city becomes a single large joyful and colorful event that winds through parades, fireworks and rivers of beer.

So much has been written about Saint Patrick and so much has been said, but never has there been a definitive solution to what his life really was.

From the date of birth until death, through events, nothing is certain. This has led to the birth of numerous legends that are often in stark contrast to each other.

It is famous the legend according to which Saint Patrick hunted in sea all the snakes of Ireland.

This happened in 441 when Patrick spent 40 days and 40 nights on Mount Croagh Padraig.

It is said that on the 40th day the Patron Saint of Ireland hurled a bell on a slope of the mountain driving all the snakes off the island.

Today there is no snake species on Irish soil and the mountain is a destination for many pilgrims.
