The Oracle of Delphi - Delphi

In ancient times it was thought that Delphi was the center of the world.

Therefore it was the seat of the most important and revered Oracle of the God Apollo.

The Oracle received to give answers once a month and only 9 months a year.

The winter months in which Apollo lived elsewhere were excluded.

To find out if the day was propitious, a goat got wet and if it shivered, the consultation proceeded.

Only men were allowed access to the sanctuary.

The only woman accepted inside was Pythia, the priestess of Apollo.

There was an order to enter: first the inhabitants of Delphi, then those of the Region, followed the rest of the Greeks and finally the Barbarians (foreigners).

For payment, a focaccia was requested, but it had to be bought at the shops of the city of Delphi.
