Legend has it that mother bird, as every day, went out of the nest to get food for her young. As he flew, he saw on top of a mountain three crosses and many people.
Curious she approached and saw that on the central cross was nailed a man with a crown of thorns on his head: it was Jesus.
Gripped by an immense sadness in seeing so much wickedness he sought ways to alleviate a little such a great suffering. He then stood near the head of Jesus and with his beak tried to pull the biggest plug.
He did, but his chest was stained with blood. When she returned to the nest she told her children what she had seen, and as she embraced them, she also stained their chests with red.
Since that day in pol those birds are called robin in memory of the generous gesture of that sweet mother.
