It is said that the city of Sofia was inhabited by an evil giant called Serdic.
Serdic was known for his cruelty and brutality to the inhabitants of the city who lived with constant fear of his fury.
One day a young pastor named Svetoslav gathered a group of brave men and together they planned to defeat Serdic.
The night before the battle Svetoslav had a dream in which an angel appeared to him and told him to go to the top of the nearby mountain to look for the magic sword hidden there because it was the only weapon capable of defeating Serdic.
Svetoslav followed the angel’s advice and climbed the mountain where he found the magic sword.
With this new weapon, Svetoslav and his men fought against Serdic.
The battle was fierce but in the end Svetoslav managed to inflict a fatal blow on the Giant with the magic sword.
After Serdic’s death the city of Sofia was liberated from its control and the inhabitants were free to live without fear.
In honor of his victory, Svetoslav was named the first ruler of the new city of Sofia.
Even today the magic sword is considered a symbol of the city of Sofia
