Australia 31 - Samoe Americae 0 - Coffs Harbour

On 11 April 2001, a 2002 World Cup qualifying match between Australia and American Samoa ended 31-0 in favor of Australia, which played at home in Coffs Harbour in front of 3000 spectators.

The Samoans accused them of being hampered by passport problems that did not allow almost all of the players to play.

The game was embarrassing and after much pressure from Australia in particular, in 2006 Australia was included in the more competitive Asian Confederation.

Before 2006, Australia was in the Oceanian group for the World Cup qualification and was by far the best national team on the continent in fact

always distorts his circle since it was in a confederation too below its potential.

The match ended 31 to 0 holds the record for the largest margin of goals in an official match between two major national football selections.
